This paper centres around s 28 'the law enforcement exemption'
contained in the Tasmanian Freedom of Information Act. After providing
statistical data as to the primary user of this exemption (the Tasmanian
police force) the body of the paper examines and discusses in detail the
two parts to this section (S 28 (1) and (2)) Extensive comparisons are
drawn with both state and Commonwealth legislation in the interpretation
of the various subsections under these provisions with case law being provided
where relevant.
