Freedom of Information Research Unit


This unit is located at the Law School, University of Tasmania. The mission of the unit is to encourage and support research into the operations of Freedom of Information in various jurisdictions. The unit is run on a voluntary basis by staff and students at the Law School.

The unit also has a public interest function and lobbies for adoption or improvements of FoI legislation around the world. Advice and training courses are provided to citizens, community organisations, lawyers and journalists to facilitate their use of FoI legislation. The unit is supported by individuals and organisations who are keen to see the spread of Open Government.
