Postgraduate Research Awards at the University Of Tasmania
The University of Tasmania is one of the oldest and most distinguished
of Australia's universities. The original University of Tasmania was founded
in 1890. It was the fourth university to be established in colonial Australia,
and along with the older universities in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide,
it gradually gained a world-wide reputation for scholarship. The 1995 Quality
Review placed it in the first rank of Australian universities.
The School of Commerce and Law offers Postgraduate Research Awards
to research higher degree candidates primarily for full-time study. Successful
candidates will be expected to enrol for a PhD degree within one of Departments
of the School. In addition, up to five (5) hours of tutoring per week in
the relevant Department may be available.

Doctor of Philosophy in Law Hobart Campus
Successful candidates will receive an award to the value of approximately
$15,000 per annum tax-free, renewable annually to a maximum of three (3)
years. In addition, allowances may also be provided for relocation expenses,
library fees and charges and conference attendance. State of the art computing
facilities are also provided.
Eligibility
Applicants must hold, or expect to hold, at least a Bachelor's degree with
upper second class honours from an Australian tertiary institution or an
overseas qualification deemed equivalent by the University of Tasmania.
There are no age restrictions to these awards.
Research Excellence
